The wisdom of the ages has been passed down from seers and sages for hundreds of years, but the deeper meaning/significance remains encoded within our DNA, ready to be unlocked when the timing is right.

These sayings poetically articulate what is, in a way that we can understand and relate to as the illusion of time passes before our eyes. The words are timeless, as the wisdom moves through each era – passing the metaphorical torch to the next messenger, hoping to bring light to wherever there is darkness.

Below, we’ve curated 20 ancient proverbs from around the world that provide potent wisdom for our modern times. From Egypt, Sumer, China and Greece – each ancient saying still resonates greatly to this day.
