On June 20th a once-in-a-lifetime celestial event is to occur when we experience the Full Moon simultaneously with the Summer Solstice – an event which hasn’t happened in 70 years.
“Having a full moon land smack on the solstice is a truly rare event,” says Farmer’s Almanac astronomer Bob Berman. “We probably won’t push people off pyramids like the Mayans did, but Slooh [a live-streaming global network of telescopes] will very much celebrate this extraordinary day of light with fascinating factoids and amazing live telescope feeds.” (See below.)
At 6:34 PM EDT the sun will stand still at its northernmost point as seen from Earth, ushering in the day of the year with the most sunlight, and technically the first official day of summer. In New York City, there will be 15.05 hours of daytime. You can check your day length at the Farmer’s Almanac sunrise and sunset calculator.
With this Full Moon being in Sagittarius, and taking the metaphorical message behind the sunshine/start of summer – this energetic opportunity brings us a time to truly shed light on what was once dark, and to have clarity from the ‘static noise’. Completing karmic cycles, and ending toxic relationships may have been a pattern for many of you over the past few months – instead of feeling overwhelmed, on edge, or anxious about the choices leading up to these “endings”, now the feelings will begin to subside, and both your inner and outer light will shine once again.
Each relationship – whether lover, friend, father, mother, brother – is a teacher, and the lessons each teacher provided will become crystal clear over the next few days. You will embrace the warrior within, and feelings of worry and regret will transform into acceptance and forgiveness. Instead of projection, and placing blame on others – you may now find yourself able to look in the mirror – and find what it was in your “reflection” that caused these experiences to manifest.
This Full Moon/Solstice is a great opportunity to accept and forgive, lighten your heart, and live in the moment. A simple, but valid, quote to fully embrace this week is the following…
“Yesterday is history, and tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift – that is why it’s called ‘the present’.”
Find the gift in each moment, and balance your heart with the weight of a feather – forgive, and love…breathe and embrace gratitude for all of life’s moments and teachers. The energy now is as malleable as you allow it to be, so take the current moment and concentrate on rising above with love.
