How to Bring More Magic(k) Into Your Life: Awakening Your Third Eye (aka: Pineal Gland)

The pineal gland is a small endocrine gland located in the brain, which produces melatonin, the hormone that modulates our sleep patterns. The shape is reminiscent of a tiny pine cone (hence the name), and some postulate that the pineal gland is essentially our “third eye.” French philosopher, mathematician and scientist, Rene Descartes, once referred to the pineal gland as the “principal seat of the soul.”

It is believed that a healthy pineal gland can allow us the ability to experience visionary states, heightened psychic abilities, and impeccable intuition. However, due to diet, environment and lack of awareness – the pineal gland has the potential to become calcified, which can inhibit our extra sensory perception.

The calcification process may be caused by exposure to fluoride (ie: tooth paste/public water systems), neurotoxins, hormones, cell phone radiation, food additives and excess sugar/sweeteners. It is theorized that calcification can be reversed, and one way to awaken the third eye/clear the “clutter” is by following a more balanced and primarily alkaline based diet.

There are two types of foods: acid-forming or alkaline-forming. When our body is alkaline, we may find ourselves more tuned in/turned on mind/body/spirit vs. when we are acidic, we may feel out of tune/out of touch mind/body/spirit. Our body is designed for a blood pH balance to be between 7.35-7.45, and too much acid in the blood causes dis-ease (aka: disease), and imbalance – if you eat something that is highly acidic, your body has to pull nutrients out of your own mineral supply to neutralize the acidity, which can be draining, and result in feelings of lethargy.

Acidic foods/items that can cause imbalance/calcification are:

  • Alcohol
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Cakes/pastries
  • Dairy products
  • Flour
  • Pesticides
  • Caffeine
  • Juice (sugar-filled)
  • Meats
  • Pasta
  • Salt
  • Tap water
  • Aluminum containing deodorant

By consuming nutrient dense, non-processed foods you will (almost) immediately begin to sense a shift in clarity, energy, and cognition in day-to-day interactions as well as in dreams/intuitive abilities.

Some alkaline foods to incorporate in your diet in order to speed up the “awakening” process are:
